Clinton agreed with Attorney General Reno and drug czar McCaffrey that sentence disparities for crack and powdered cocaine sellers - the former involving mostly minority defendants, the latter mostly Anglos - must end. He proposed that selling 25 grams of crack or 250 grams of powder be punished with five-year sentences; currently, sales of 5 grams of crack and 500 grams of powder get equal treatment.
