The notorious King Herod, reputed to have slaughtered infants and beheaded John the Baptist during the life of Jesus Christ, wins a lighter historical footnote: Archaeologists have discovered a 5-by-9-meter indoor pool in the ruins of his palace, the Associated Press reported, apparently the earliest ever built in Judea.
