Desertion Plea

Randy Caudill, who enlisted in the Marines in 1966 and went AWOL rather than go to Vietnam, pleaded guilty to desertion charges and was sentenced to a bad-conduct discharge. Caudill, now a resident of Winnipeg, was arrested 9 September on a ferry from Victoria, British Columbia, to Port Angeles, Washington, by INS agents conducting a random check of passengers.
