Barbara Zack Quindel, who had already set aside the election of Teamsters leader Ron Carey and was considering barring Carey from a second face-off with James Hoffa, recused herself from the probe late this afternoon. Quindel said her membership in the Wisconsin affiliate of the New Party forced her resignation. A Teamsters consultant has claimed that he proposed a contribution swap with the New Party, in effect funneling Teamsters money into Carey's campaign fund.
