Environmentalists in the United States won a big victory, convincing the Forest Service to reverse itself on a plan to allow new oil and gas drilling in the Rocky Mountain Front. The supervisor of the Lewis and Clark National Forest of Montana said public protests convinced her to protect the large area along the eastern side of the Rocky Mountains and down onto the Great Plains.
