Overseas Markets Rebound

Investors looked into the fissure that had been the Hong Kong stock exchange - and a phoenix arose. The Hang Seng index regained two-thirds of its 10.4 percent loss Thursday, and that performance encouraged rebounds on most of the world's major exchanges: London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Tokyo all recouped large portions of their roughly 3 percent Thursday losses. Many regional markets, though, including those in South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, New Zealand, and Australia, fell.
