Cable News Network on Tuesday rolled out a Spanish-language news Web site, CNNenEspanol, based on its English-language CNN Web site. The service includes coverage of world news, sports, business, weather, and features, and will be edited at CNN headquarters in Atlanta.

256 top twitchy fingers: Total Entertainment Network's Professional Gamers' League announced the end of its qualification period, that it had chosen the top 256 players, and that it would begin its first regular season today. The season is scheduled to end some time in January 1998. The league's Web site has the list of all competing players. (9.Dec.97)

Let's Quake again: Fraggers around the world are rejoicing today, as the long-awaited sequel to Quake is released upon the world. id Software's kill-or-get-killed Quake 2 updates the original with a female character, a more complex man vs. alien story line, puzzles, and different scenery.
Quake 2's release has been highly anticipated in gaming circles, and the pre-release version won industry-zine accolades at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo. (9.Dec.97)

MGM goes wood: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer is getting into the book business, teaming up with Tekno Books to create products based on the companies' movies and television shows. According to Variety, the first books planned are novels based on the company's Poltergeist: The Legacy series, as well as some type of products based on the Stargate SG-1 and Outer Limits TV shows.
