Robin Hood for the Computer Age

N.Y. nonprofit Women in New Media takes donations from the rich and gives them to the software-poor.

Women in New Media (WIN), a New York-based nonprofit organization, concluded its yearly software drive today, donating more than 200 software programs to local youth programs.

The software was donated by BMG, Home PC magazine, IBM, Jupiter Communications, Microsoft, Random House, Simon & Schuster, and Trans World International, among others. Recipients of the software were the Goddard Community Center and The Girls Club of New York, where WIN (founded in 1995) hopes it will interest children who wouldn't otherwise have access to new technology, especially stereotypically less-techie young women.
