Abdul-Jabbar Arrested

Retired NBA star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was arrested on marijuana charges at a Canadian airport on Sunday, immigration officials said today. Abdul-Jabbar, who was carrying 6 grams of the controlled substance, was fined US$500 and released. But Canadian authorities indicated that he could face legal problems should he try to return to the country. News of the incident follows Thursday's dismissal of charges that Abdul-Jabbar attacked a man during a traffic dispute. Abdul-Jabbar, who also settled a civil suit with his accuser, will undergo 36 hours of anger management counseling and donate $5,000 to a youth program.
