Easing Up on Cuba

Citing the impact of the recent papal visit, Clinton said he would permit a resumption of direct humanitarian charter flights to Cuba, expedite procedures for sales of medicine and medical supplies, and allow exiles and other Cuban-Americans to send US$1,200 per year to relatives on the Marxist isle. He also said he wants the secretary of state and Congress to find ways to "transfer" food to Cuba.
