Russia will extradite the man accused of trying to assassinate Georgian President Eduard Shevardnazde, the prosecutor-general's office confirmed today. Guram Absandze, arrested in the Russian city of Smolensk, is charged with plundering state property, as well as with helping to plot last month's attempted assassination in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi. Absandze was Georgia's finance minister in the previous government, which was ousted in a 1992 coup.
