Babyslaughter Plea

Amy Grossberg, whose newborn was found dead in a trash bin in November 1996, pleaded guilty today to manslaughter. This comes one month after the boy's father, Brian Peterson, entered the same plea and offered to testify against his former lover. Grossberg's plea follows a published report Tuesday that she yelled "Get rid of it!" when the father suspected the baby was still-born. Coroners said the boy was born alive and died of multiple fractures caused by blunt trauma and shaking. Grossberg and Peterson, both 19, initially had been charged with first-degree murder. Both are free on bond and could be sentenced to 2 1/2 years each.
