New cash machines in Britain do away with PINs. Deep Blue's brothers get an upgrade.

New cash machines to be unveiled in Britain on Thursday will do away with secret codes and dispense money at the blink of an eye. A camera mounted on the ATM will scan the customer's eye each time they want to withdraw money. An official for NCR Financial Solutions, which developed the system with Sensar Inc., described the system as "foolproof." Unless, of course, you're wearing sunglasses.

A Bigger Blue: IBM is adding five times the beef to its RS/6000 SP supercomputer line, made famous after the "Deep Blue" model beat world chess champion Garry Kasparov last year. The speed boost will no doubt be appreciated by the US Department of Energy, which recently contracted IBM to build an RS/6000 SP for use in simulating nuclear weapon detonations.
