MTV Networks and Biz Enterprises have announced a multiyear licensing agreement to develop and launch a customized, 24-hour MTV for Russia.

The channel, set to launch late in 1998, will mark the first time a western television network has been customized for a Russian audience. At launch, the advertiser-supported Russian-language network will be distributed via VHF and UHF terrestrial frequencies and will reach more than 10 million households.

Tailored to the musical tastes and lifestyles of younger Russians, MTV will present daily, locally produced programming. The music video playlists will be created in Moscow and presented by Russian VJs.
