Surfers Preview Willie Nelson's Latest

For a month, the Texas musician's new release will be available only on the Internet. Also: Wild horses (and burros) to be auctioned online.

Country-music singer Willie Nelson's new album will be released exclusively on the Internet, and for at least a month, that's the only place you'll be able to hear it. Until 15 May the 13-song release, "Tales Out of Luck (Me and The Drummer)" will be offered online in a combined promotion by AudioNet, CDnow, and Yahoo. Though Nelson's release embraces new technology, the new music is a return to his roots: All of the songs on the album were written over 30 years ago, and newly recorded with The Offenders, Nelson's original band.

Online lasso: While taking care of a horse is a pretty big job, buying one could now be a lot easier. The US Department of Interior's Bureau of Land Management is sponsoring the first Wild Horse and Burro Adoption on the Internet, to begin 1 May. After establishing one's ability to care for the animal, would-be horse owners will compete in an online auction offering fully grown horses, foals, and burros.(16.Apr.98)
