Sex Sentence

A Columbia University doctoral student was sentenced today to 15 years to life in prison for kidnapping and sexually abusing a woman he first met on the Internet. Oliver Jovanovic, 31, had maintained that the woman had come to his apartment willingly and that everything that went on between them was consensual. The prosecution, however, convinced the jury that Jovanovic met the woman for dinner, invited her to his apartment on the pretext of watching a video, and sexually assaulted her over a 20-hour period. He had faced a maximum of 25 years to life on the kidnapping charge alone.
