The Intercity Express from Munich to Hamburg jumped the tracks this morning near the town of Eschede, northeast of Hanover, and officials said as many as 70 passengers were killed. A radio reporter at the scene said a car appeared to have fallen from a bridge on to the tracks and caused the accident.
