Guilty Plea in Password Theft

A boy who used a Trojan horse program to glean passwords from unsuspecting America Online users enters his plea in New York federal court.

NEW YORK -- A juvenile pleaded guilty Monday to using a Trojan horse program to steal more than 500 user passwords from America Online.

Federal prosecutors said the youngster, called "John Doe" in court papers, pleaded guilty in Manhattan federal court to one count of unlawful interception of electronic communications.

They said the boy sent Trojan horse programs to AOL users as email attachments. The program would then record the AOL users' keystrokes, including their passwords.
