A federal judge in New York ruled Friday that the author of a humorous guide to dating Trekkers has assimilated too much Star Trek culture and has put a halt to further distribution of the US$10.95 paperback. The judge said Joy of Trek: How to Enhance Your Relationship With a Star Trek Fan copied too much from the Paramount-owned institution and could not be justified under fair use even though, as he noted, author Samuel Ramer was a die-hard fan who had good intentions and was not motivated by a desire for profit.
