Submit Graciously

The first amendment to the Baptist Faith and Message statement since 1963 makes it clear: Wives must "submit graciously" to their husbands, homosexuality is a perversion, and single people -- even widows and widowers -- cannot refer to themselves as a "family." Citing numerous biblical passages, the national assembly of the Southern Baptist church approved the statement Tuesday at its convention in Utah. It represents a victory for the conservative wing of the faith, the largest Protestant church in the US with 16 million members.
