US stocks were mixed in late Tuesday trading, as an early rally, inspired by surging European markets, faded in the afternoon. The Dow was up 4.90 at 7731.14, while the Nasdaq fell 24.54 to 1512.15. The Wired Index lost 2.31 to 341.95.
