US stocks opened mostly higher Tuesday, but the Dow Jones Industrial Average dipped as component Caterpillar declined following an earnings warning. The Wired Index rose 5.87 to 458.45, the Dow slipped 6.18 to 8689.42, and the Nasdaq rose 19.83 to 1986.75. Asia: Japan's Nikkei dropped 100.43 to 14011.19, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 127.63 to 9952.84.
