Fed up with people talking on portable phones in the wrong places? You'll love a mobile phonemaker's latest ad campaign, to be introduced in French cinemas on Bastille Day, 14 July.
Moviegoers will be treated to spots from France's Alcatel -- the world's fourth-biggest supplier of GSM mobiles -- that show inconsiderate phone users being scalped by American Indians or attacked by Kung-Fu experts.
Created by agency devarieuxvillaret, the spots portray film characters becoming so outraged at viewers using mobiles during their film that they attack.
"Being a maker of mobile phones and promoting their development is completely in line with our desire to see them used in a more responsible way," says Jacques Combet, Alcatel's director of mobile phones, in a statement issued Monday.
The campaign is due to run until 14 September at the Gaumont and Pathe cinema chains as well as in independent theaters, Alcatel said.
