Because it was the last World Series of the century -- and because the New York Yankees already had 24 championships under their belts heading into this one -- it was altogether fitting that the Bronx Bombers swept the Atlanta Braves aside in four straight to claim their 25th title. It puts an indelible stamp on what was undeniably a Yankee century. Even Red Sox fans will have to concede that, though the best of them never will.
