Subject: disgusted
I am disgusted with your opinion ("The DVD Hack: What Next?," 4.Nov.1999) that the recent DVD crack should be used as an excuse to delay or limit the functionality of future technology.
We can all copy videotapes. I realize DVD is much higher quality etc., but why bother with all this protection? They have the legal system to stamp out the major DVD pirates, and the small Joe doingan odd copy in his bedroom ain't gonna cost them that much. I hope this teaches them a lesson: security is pointless – if you can watch the DVD, you can copy the DVD.
