Subject: Blame US Regs for DVD Hack

This is in reference to "BlameUS Regs for DVD Hack," 11.Nov.1999. I don't see a reason for having encryption in the first place; Compact Discs do not have copy protection, and although there's lots of CD writers around now, the recording industry still seems to be happy with the format. Could it be that they simple have reasonable prices that the consumer will pay anyway?
