Modern-day copy machines are technological wonders, but they're also a constant source of frustration ... and the bane of a temp worker's existence.
Sometimes, workers have been known to get even, with their employers or even with the machine.
Here's a tale related by "Keffo," the publisher of Temp Slave!
Perhaps inspired by the machine's sluggish warm-up, but more likely by a hatred for lawyers, a copier at a law firm had the image of a pen on every sheet of paper it put out.
Suspecting a pen had fallen into the mechanism, the firm called out the repairman to dig it out.
Trouble is, he couldn't find it.
An exhaustive process of elimination eventually led the technician to the source of the problem.
The saboteur had carefully steamed open every ream of paper in the office and copied the image of a pen onto every sheet of paper. He or she had then meticulously resealed the packets to cover up any sign of tampering.
Why a pen?
Keffo had no idea.
