Perez, Fisk in Hall

It took Tony Perez nine tries, but the slugging first baseman for Cincinnati's storied Big Red Machine teams of the 1970s finally made into baseball's Hall of Fame Tuesday. Perez, who made a career driving in the likes of Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, and Johnny Bench, received 385 votes to go in along with Carlton Fisk, who in 24 seasons with the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox, caught 2,226 games, more than any catcher in major league history. Fisk, who received 397 votes, made it on his second try.
