Subject: Microsoft must ship Sun's Java
What an ignorant article ("Microsoft Must Ship Sun's Java," 25.Jan.2000)! And I quote: "Partly because of the running gun battle with Microsoft, the program has not caught on like Sun hoped it would." That has got to be the stupidest piece of writing that I ever did have the misfortune to read!
"Program?" Oh, you mean "programming language?" OK, so your article is trying to say that Sun's Java programming language has not caught on like Sun hoped it would? Did someone from Sun give you guys a comment to this effect? If so, why isn't the comment reproduced for the benefit of the 1 million or more Java programmers and developers out there who (if they are unlucky enough to subscribe to this crappy newsfeed service) would probably be very interested to hear that Sun thinks Java is a waste of time!?
It's more likely that this is just someone's opinion, and so I have to ask, since when is someone's opinion news? Can't you hire real journalists to write this stuff and spare us all from the idiotic opinions of the halfwits that are churning out this crap? I take it they are on some sort of retainer from MS. Or maybe MS is one of your major advertisers?
I have just recently subscribed to this service, but I have noticed that the standard of journalism and writing is very poor, which is quite unfortunate because most of the topics that are covered could be quite interesting if they were written up properly! You guys need to get your facts straight, understand the material that you are writing about, and most importantly, report without letting your opinions loose, especially if those opinions are totally ignorant and off-the-mark!
