Subject: Saint Linux?
When, oh when, will the endless orgasmic coverage of Linux end ("The Linux Effect," Ongoing)? It seems to me that, on one hand, your have a handful of companies eager to dominate the market for this OS who are willing to use the same tactics of which Microsoft is accused.
On the other hand, you have some of the original techies determined that Linux should never be simplified for fear that the masses will be able to use it and it will no longer be their semi-private tinker toy.
They suggest that Linux will become bloated and unstable if it is required to do those things which most computer users require of an operating system.
I am not expert enough to know whether this is true. However, if so, the tech media ought to reduce coverage of Linux by 95 percent and stop hyping it as the greatest development since the invention of the wheel.
