Subject: re hackers and other cretins. . . .

I'm writing in response to the article, "Hacker Havoc Reveals Risks," 10.Feb.2000. There should be specific laws regarding hackers, even if it means changing your charter of rights, or whatever they are called in America. They were written over 200 years ago by great people, but people that had absolutely no idea of what the world was about to evolve into.

Make it an indictable offence for any kind of nuisance hacking [or cracking] and if the cretins responsible are caught, and convicted, make the punishment such that it would really discourage others from attempting the same thing. A $10,000 fine and 10 years in jail with no appeal and no parole comes to mind (for the first offence) and doubling for each following offence.
