Subject: Just $1? HA.

It's no big secret that King writes big books – very big books ("Stephen King, the E-Publisher," June 11, 2000). The Stand was somewhere along the lines of 800 pages in paperback. At a modest guess, there were about 250 words per page, meaning the book itself contained around 2 million words.

At $1 per 5,000 words that would mean to read the whole thing on King's rate would be $40! Forty dollars when I could go buy it from the bookstore for about $10.

Well if this idea flies, then there really must be one born every minute.
