Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson on Wednesday ordered Microsoft to be split into two companies.
The ruling marks the biggest corporate breakup since AT&T was split into the Baby Bells, and harshly rebuked the software giant for stifling software competition.
After-hours trading on Microsoft was halted minutes after the decision.
