Subject: Napster ordered to shutdown

I very much liked the article about Napster ("Napster's File-Trading No More," July 27, 2000).

Most people today have become complacent with ethics in technology, and have forgotten about or try to twist the law so it makes since to them. Let's face it, there are no laws or only a few about the current technology concerning these matters.

With the advent of MP3 and other digital audio, people have taken advantage of the technology and abused it beyond the realm of reasoning. If the music industry or any other industry has put in a type of copyright or patent on their product, then it's protected by law, period. And that's where the buck stops.

My vote is and will always remain in favor of shutting down Napster and any organization that does similar business.
