Amazon isn't in trouble because of this analyst ("Bezos Snubs Amazon Critic," Sept. 19, 2000). Amazon is in trouble because of its abusive treatment of customers.

Amazon has recently engaged in the dubious practice of quoting different prices to different customers for the same item. It is amazing how Amazon spent years building a reputation as the standard in honest, reliable Internet retail, but has been engaging in a deliberate program to earn the worst reputation on the Net for the past few months.

Bezos should look at his own practices to explain his problems.
