A peacock possessed with the soul of a 28-year-old Cambodian has taken up residence with the deceased woman's family. Before dying, Um Sokhom told her father she was finished with human life and would return as a bird. Three days after her March 3 burial in a village near Phnom Penh, the father returned from work to find a peacock sitting on his daughter's grave. "Sokhom, if your soul is really in the peacock, please come to the bed where you used to sleep," Um Sum addressed the bird. "The bird seemed to understand the human words and jumped on the bed and relaxed," he said. Buddhists believe in reincarnation before attaining nirvana, the end of individual existence.
