The city of Bogota is inviting women to hit the streets for a night of carousing. But this gal's-night-out has a catch: No men allowed. In an appeal for the sexes to "walk a night in one another's shoes," Bogota Mayor Antanas Mockus has cooked up "Night Without Men," a voluntary curfew this Friday that encourages women to party and men to stay home. "It's an invitation for the men to be homemakers," said Mockus. "For the women the invitation is to go out. It especially applies to women who don't get out much," he added. Feminists and housewives alike are championing the initiative, but some men are threatening to resist. Men who decide to go out will be asked to carry a "safe-conduct" pass that gives their excuse. The mayor plans to follow "Night Without Men" with an "evening of rediscovery" later this month, encouraging couples to go out together. "The women will have the chance to tell all the men about all the new places they went," he joked.
