What is it with you guys at Wired? ("Honeypots: Bait for the Cracker," Mar. 7, 2001) It's bad enough that there are ignoramuses out there that love to crack files that they have no business being in, but now you're bitching because someone has created "Honeypot" or "Honeynet" to understand exactly what the "crackers" are doing and why!!!

Haven't you heard of "espionage" and "counter-espionage" ... "agents" and "double-agents"? The argument that it might be infringing on the crackers' civil rights is so stupid that it borders on ... I can't think of a word that is dumb enough. The idea, as I see it, is to see how the "crackers'" minds work. (I am assuming that the do have a mind)... the fact that they get their kicks by cracking makes me wonder if perhaps they are missing some gray cells.

They should be criminally charged and either sentenced to prison or given a real hefty fine. That might make them think twice before "having fun at some other person's expensive"!!!

Cheesh, but you yankees turn my crank!!!
