Great article, but it understates the fury felt by many in Europe over Bush's about-face on Kyoto ("Global Steam Released on Kyoto," April 19, 2001). Five percent of the world's population generating 25 percent of the world's greenhouse gas emissions? You've got to be kidding me. Not prepared to do anything about it? Again, you've got to be kidding me. Standby for a serious boycott of all things made in the US unless Bush changes his tune and recognizes the risk that he - and the rest of America - are running.
