A 100-year-old Miami man appeared in court on Wednesday charged with aggravated battery for allegedly pouring gasoline on his 38-year-old girlfriend and threatening to set her on fire. "Apparently he's not quite ready for the nursing home," Miami-Dade Police detective Ed Munn said. Hermenergildo Rojas was arrested on May 2 at his home after a dispute with his girlfriend, Janet Ali, six decades his junior. Police said the two were fighting over "other men." Ali broke a bedroom window and climbed through it to escape, according to a police report. Rojas is free on $1,500 bond and will be arraigned on June 1. A judge appointed a public defender to handle his case.
