Subject: Sega Emerges From Dreamcast Ashes
There is a lot of complaining from Sega Dreamcast owners. Their beloved system is gone ("Sega Emerges From Dreamcast Ashes," May 19, 2001). The fact is that Sega was losing money on the Dreamcast. Sega loses money on systems and makes money on games, like every other video game console manufacturer.
Sega sold the Dreamcast system thinking that Dreamcast owners would buy enough games to compensate for the loss it took on game consoles. The owners didn't, so Sega killed the Dreamcast. Most Dreamcast owners have no reason to complain.
