For the second time in less than a month, America West Airlines placed young children traveling alone on the wrong connecting flight. Krista Spears, 11, and her sister, Sierra, 8, were on their way home to Lakeside, CA and were supposed to connect in Phoenix to San Diego, but ended up at Ontario International Airport, about 100 miles northwest of San Diego. Their mother, Michelle Spears, said while waiting for them, "I know mistakes happen, but not with my kids." The girls arrived nearly five hours after the flight they were supposed to take was scheduled to land. America West spokeswoman Patty Nowack said. "I told them I expect (they'll get) plane tickets forever." On Friday, America West announced that after Sept. 10 it will only carry unaccompanied young children on nonstop flights.
