Subject: Heading MS Off at the Passport

The article Heading MS Off at the Passport mentions that "McNealy famously said in 1999, 'You have zero privacy anyway -- get over it.'"

That pretty much sums up Sun's approach. Microsoft seems to feel that privacy is an important thing to address and is trying to come up with a solution, Passport being just part of the attempt.

Sun is server-centric with cadres of technical minions that can, of course, read all your stuff. Microsoft is client-centric (consumer-centric) which means the empowerment of the edges of the network rather than the center.
