Subject: No Smoking Gun in Terror Bill

I'm writing in response to the article "No Smoking Gun in Terror Bill" (October 5, 2001). There is no such thing as a gun show loophole. The NICS check is required to purchase a firearm at these shows. This is an ATF requirement and all licensed dealers must do the check.

Do you really think that a person with fake documents would go through this check? Or would they buy the weapons from the same people who supply the fake documents?

Let's not create a problem that does not exist.

We had the argument here in Michigan that with our new CCW law it would make it easier for terrorists to get a CCW. Now why would a person who has fake documents go through a local, county, state and FBI check?

They are only willing to commit a hijacking and thousands of cases of murder. What is another small crime to go with those?
