What a ridiculous article on Maya and the Mac. (Maya: Doomed on OS X, Nov 07 2001) Creative professionalshave been asking for this for a long time, to be able to use their Macsfor Photoshop, After Effects and 3-D. They don't need the hassles ofWindows or the terrible GUI Unix variations. It's been known for a longtime that Lucas Arts/Industrial Light and Magic use Macs for a lot oftheir effects work and wanted to use them for the high end 3-D work butcouldn't because the OS wasn't robust enough. With that no longer beinga problem I see the Mac flourishing in the 3-D environment, just imagineturning all of those great 2-D artists loose with Maya.
I received a grant at my high school Photo Multimedia program andbought 2 Maya licenses and my kids are going nuts over it. The Macs runMaya very well by the way, so why not use a good GUI with greatunderpinnings like UNIX rather than DELL/WINDOWS combinations.
