Snail E-Mail

North Korea's 22 million people live under a tightly controlled Stalinist regime that keeps them in the dark and feeds them nothing but ... nothing. So the news that North Korea is experimenting with e-mail service is at least mildly startling. But so it is, using a company in northeast China to provide the necessary technology. The service is truncated (only trade companies, government agencies or other official organizations can be contacted) and e-mail for ordinary citizens is nonexistent, at least for now. It's a start, but don't expect to hear from long, lost Uncle Kim anytime soon.
