Subject: 'New' iMac Online Last Year

I am writing in response to the article "'New' iMac Online Last Year," Jan. 10, 2002.

I think that's a little ridiculous, to think Apple really stole such a simple idea. Apple has always tried to cram as little hardware into as small a space as possible, and I and many of my designer friends have wondered when someone was going to stuff laptop-sized components into the base of a flat monitor.

I don't think the new iMac form is a surprise to anyone in the design world. Actually, I think it looks a little ugly, and I feel Apple's insistence on making barely-upgradeable computers will ensure that thrift stores and landfills will be lined with them in five years.
