Slideshow: Mac Deadhead Camps in Style

Macworld brings out the eccentrics, but few are as singular as Taylor Barcroft, who has devoted the last 11 years of his life to videotaping every speech, press conference and booth presentation at Macworld and scores of other trade shows. Leander Kahney reports from Macworld in San Francisco.

To power all the fancy gear, Barcroft has installed several heavy-duty batteries, amplifiers (top), chargers, switches for his many speaker sets (right) and an AC/DC converter (center).

Barcroft's dashboard contains his stereo and CD player, CB radio, hands-free cell phone module, and a small, flat-screen TV.

The foot of Barcroft's bed is mounted with speakers, a VCR, and a custom bracket so he can move the flat-screen display easily from the "galley" to the "boudoir."

Taylor's license plate reads,"MAC TIGR;" a tribute to both the Mac and his RV, the Tiger XL. All of the license plates for his three vehicles begin with "MAC."

To make his traveling home even more deluxe, Barcroft has installed a DSS satellite receiver and a satellite tracking dish, so he can maintain his signal while driving.

The interior of Barcroft's RV is completely decked out with satellite TV systems, flat-screen displays, VCRs, speakers and much more.

Barcroft's flat-screen TV retracts into the dashboard when not in use. He says it has been placed strategically so that no one outside the vehicle can see he's watching TV when he's driving down the freeway.
