Passage: Bill Peet, 87

Peet was one of Walt Disney's "Nine Old Men," the group who developed a series of storyboards that would become the basis of Disney's first animated films. In addition to being a first-rate illustrator, Peet was also a "story man" whose imagination was said to rival Disney himself. He had a hand in drawing or writing for a slew of Disney productions, including Fantasia, Cinderella, Peter Pan and Alice in Wonderland. Peet left the studio in 1964 after a final falling out with his legendary boss. In his autobiography, Peet said that he drew the evil Captain Hook to resemble Disney.
