Jose Bove, the French farmer who won the hearts of anti-globalization activists by destroying a McDonald's restaurant under construction in a small French town, is a free man -- for the moment. Bove, 49, released Thursday from a prison in Villeneuve-les-Maguelon, emerged to the cheers of about 1,000 supporters and said he found his incarceration "tolerable." Good thing, because he may be going back. A court is expected to rule soon on whether Bove has to serve an additional 14 months for his role in ripping up genetically modified crops.
